Update
- December 2012 - We are very grateful to the Community
Council and everyone who was involved in the bulb planting in November
in Donaldson Park. Wildflower seeds were also planted by the PKC Countryside
Squad. There are some buddleia plants still to be planted by the community.
The park should look even nicer next year with all the new plants
and flowers.
Also
in November the Bloom Committee did a great job planting a new flower
bed in Jessie’s Park to go beside the recently installed new
Jessie’s Park sign. Many thanks to everyone who helped with
this; there have been good comments from the community.
The
tree in Wester Loan will be planted this winter when conditions
allow.

Update - September 2011
Concerns have been expressed about the long grass in Donaldson
Park - Read
report.
Update - July 2011
We have now got the go ahead from Jessie Porter's family
to rename the "wee park" at Back Loan as "Jessie's
Park" in her memory. We hope to work with the community to have
a new sign made for this park.
We are
going to be adding supports to the new trees at Auld Mart to try and
stop further wind damage. We had planned to also add seating to the
area but decided the seating would be too close to the housing and
users could disturb residents in the area.
The
Greenspace projects are now completed with the upgrading of Donaldson
Park with the addition of a youth shelter, the refurbishment of Jessie's
park, tree planting at Auld Mart and the new seating at Ba' Hill.
The youth shelter has received unexpected popularity with local dog
walkers who are enjoying a new place to meet! It is hoped that all
the roads improvements will be completed this financial year.
Update - May 2011

- On the afternoon of Thursday 26th May 2011, children from
Milnathort Primary School helped to plant wild flowers in Donaldson
Park. This was followed by the official opening of the revamped park
at Back Loan which has had new play equipment and bike racks installed
and its entrance improved. There was free barbecue kindly provided
by the Thistle Hotel. Free goodies to celebrate National Biodiversity
Week were also handed out.
Later in the day, the introduction of the new youth shelter in Donaldson
Park was celebrated with activities for young people organised by
Perth & Kinross Council's Youth Services, including street football
and games. Donaldson Park has also received new
play equipment and cycle parking, along with landscaping and planting
work.
Update - April 2011:- Works
on the greenspace areas have been delayed, but hope to be finished
in early May. All sites have started (Ba’Hill, Donaldson Park,
Back Loan) Ba’hill is almost complete, Back Loan – play
equipment in and ramp under construction, Donaldson – works
for surfacing under teen shelter underway.
Tree
planting is complete in Donaldson Park and unfortunately only one
person from the community came to help. The trees will enhance the
arboriculture richness of the park with more interesting and varied
trees.
Tree
planting at Auld Mart should have started
Site
visit took place with concerned residents at Wester Loan on the 5th
April which went well. We are going to look at the issue of poor street
lighting there.
We
will be looking for volunteers later to help with bulb and wildflower
plug planting in the parks
Update - March 2011:- It is
still hoped that the planned roads improvements will commence in June.
The improvements to Donaldson Park, Back Loan Park and Ba’ Hill
have started and will be completed in April. Community tree planning
will take place soon in the Auld Mart area and Donaldson Park.
Update - February 2011:- Due
to technical difficulties and adverse weather conditions the street
improvements planned for Milnathort Placecheck have been delayed.
The team are currently working on resolving some drainage issues and
once these are rectified the works will go to tender and if within
budget they will hopefully commence in June.
The contracts have been awarded for the work to the parks and greenspaces
and should start soon and be completed by the end of March.
