In February 2002 Perth & Kinross Council (P&KC) declared Kinross Town Hall and Library “surplus to requirements” and decided to dispose of the buildings by selling them. Both buildings had been gifted to the people of Kinross and questions arose as to whether P&KC had the authority to do this. In August 2005 P&KC began a legal process at the Sheriff Court to gain permission to sell the buildings. Representatives of Kinross Community Council (KCC) attended the Court to object to this. The Community Council was accepted into the legal process, which is continuing.
